Climate change is currently a major concern of the world community because it plays a role in the instability of the world’s average temperature unnaturally. This phenomenon causes disruption of the environmental balance, endangers health and human food reserves.

The main cause of climate change is electricity production activities which are dominated by coal-fired power plants and natural gas-fired power plants which account for about 30% of the total gas emissions that cause global warming. The need for electrical energy in various parts of the country continues to increase, by adding a capacity of at least 7,000 megawatts or MW every year. The government has committed to realize the supply of electricity of 35,000 MW within five years, starting from 2014 to 2019 and every year it can continue to increase. One of the largest electricity producers is nickel which must be mined from the ground every day.

Mining is a form of deforestation that can erase critical habitats, disrupt ecosystems and cause the extinction of many potential species, including irreplaceable species that can be used to make medicines, and others. Therefore, we as living things need to reduce the use of non-renewable energy that can damage the environment, such as nickel which is used as a source of electricity. We need to increase the use of renewable energy such as sunlight, geothermal energy, wind, water, biomass, biogas, and ocean waves. In addition to its inexhaustible energy, renewable energy is also environmentally friendly in the sense that it will not damage the environment. According to our group, although there are already some renewable energy power plants, they are still lacking. In addition to making electricity generators, we can also innovate such as making cars and motorbikes whose fuel uses renewable energy.

So we should cut the use of conventional energy by using renewable energies. Conventional energy is impactful for the ecosystems that results in deforestation. We can prevent this use by using renewable energy which is certainly very environmentally friendly for our lives. For example, like the sentence already in the paragraph above which explains the use of renewable energy for electricity generation. By using this renewable energy electricity generation from hydro, wind, and others can prevent deforestation. So that the use of power plants using coal and natural gas can be reduced. The use of coal and natural gas can greatly disrupt cycles in nature, such as the use of 30% of gas emissions that can cause global warming. Of course, these gases have a huge impact on our lives, right? Which of course causes a greenhouse effect that continues to become global warming, which of course has an impact on our lives. So that’s why we, as the next generation of young people, must take part in protecting our environment by limiting the use of fossil fuels and continuing to develop fuels that come from renewable energy. Save the earth by protecting the environment and by using renewable energy. When else can we become world heroes if we don’t start now.
